Our Birthday
Well we are now 2 years old, we first sold our products at the Vintage Tractor Rally, in Haynes, Beds, 2 years ago and went back there to sell again this weekend.
So to celebrate this event we are offering a discount of 10% of all purchases until 31 October and all you have to do to qualify is say 'Happy Birthday' the lovely person who serves you!
Mums the Boss start up event at the I-Kan centre was a great place to meet other business people and good to put faces to people I have email and phone contact with. Mums the Boss is a networking group based in Bedford offering creche places so all can attend. www.mumstheboss.co.uk
Off to the hospital again tomorrow with the now 16yo so that will be another day wasted and I guess that wont answer any questions either but at least her asthma seems to be under some sort of control at the moment and not troubling her too bad.
Anyway better go and cook tea for the two little ones - 9yo and 7yo - dont have to worry about the 16yo and 11yo as they are going out for tea with their dad to celebrate 16yo birthday.

The weekend
Well after a shaky Friday - feeling really pants - we had a good weekend. the Luton Food Festival was a small success with Steve pleased with himself as he was interviewed on BBC 3 Counties radio and he sold a jar of marmalade to Esther Rantzen!
We had beautiful weather all weekend, especially on Sunday at the Tractor Rally in Haynes, it was great to see some many people out enjoying the day, personally I can't get enough of the traction engines, but even the stationary engines are amazing what a difference these engines must have made to the lives of ordinary working folk when they came to farms. Attending this event has marked Humbers Homemades 2nd Birthday, thinking about have a special offer to celebrate this event, so watch this space!
We placed an advert in the Bedford Raring2Go magazine which goes out to the lower schools in Bedfordshire and it has really made my web visits go sky high I have had nearly 2000 more hits this month than last month! amazing!!
I am now the proud owner of 5 bags of bedfordshire grapes!! now I know that my dad would make wine from them but seeing as I don't drink and I tend to be very impatient - wine taking a year or so to make to drinking - Bedfordshire Grape Jelly it is going to be, only thing is I don't know what the pectin levels will be like so it may be a bit of trial and error!
We have an exciting day tomorrow, my biggest is 16yo so party hats all round I think.
Anyway off the squash grapes now.

What a day
Well it started with what I thought - hoped actually - would just be a quick visit to the hospital for my eldest - 15yo, 16 next week - but that all went out the window, 2 hours later she was so hassled that she asked if she could go and so we did. The consultant didn't even realise that she was taking her blue inhaler let alone the 20 - 30 puffs a day that she needs to get around!!!
Managed to make a delivery to Mamas Cafe in Sandy and then on the the Mums the Boss start up business event in the I-Kan Centre, Mill Street, Bedford better late than never I suppose. For any anyone with a burning desire to start your own business check out the last Start up business event in this run next Tuesday 10am - 2pm at the I-Kan centre (mumstheboss.co.uk).
Also booked my ticket for the Mumpreneur Conference
on Saturday 3rd October in Birmingham, got to get a whole load of business cards printed cos you never know who you might meet.
Anyway off to fight some paperwork now and have a cuppa.

New Week
So the start of a new week, hopefully this one wont be quite a manic as last week, however looking at the diary I think that it is still going to be really busy.
Going to meet an effiency coach on Wednesday (www.theefficiencycoach.co.uk) with a view to streamlining this business so fingers crossed that she has a magic wand!!
Anyway better get the little monsters to school, will write again soon.

Winning Jam
Well what a week, it started with the eldest(15yo) being told at the out patients appointment on Monday that she needed to be admitted to the hospital for assessment of her asthma, then that evening the youngest (7yo) very unwell which then appeared to be suspected swine flu.
So spent all day in Bedford Hospital with eldest on Tuesday, only to be told at 8.30pm that she could go home and we were no closer to finding out what is making her so bad. So still waiting for the referal to the Royal Brompton in London for her.
Although did go to my first session with the personal trainer, this week and what a lovely lady she is (www.excercise4you.co.uk)
Rumbled on for the rest on the week but today we had a pretty decent market at Newport Pagnell and then the best bit of the week so far, Issy (child no. 3 9yo) won the fancy dress fun run, dressed up as yes you've guessed it a pot of jam So well done Issy and pictures to follow.
Here's hoping for a good weekend and so far the weather looks to be ok and dry.
